Need some help regarding the radio controls in the 2021 Z71 that I just picked up from the dealer. Whenever you start it up the radio starts playing. Even if I turn the radio completely off, and it is off when the Tahoe is turned off, whenever you start it back up the radio starts playing. Also, when the radio is turned off and you hit the Home button on the Infotainment system the radio starts playing. I only want to hear the radio when I turn it on. The dealer was no help and I called the GM Infotainment help line and they were no help - in fact, they said that they have no information on any 2021 vehicles. So, I'm hoping that someone on here can help me out. I have a 2019 Traverse and the Infotainment system/radio on it doesn't do this. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

And by the way, the new model Z71 is sweet! We have an older model Yukon but this new 2021 model series is in an entirely different league.

A GM rep contacted me and said that and there is no way to change this. They said that so many customers requested that the radio automatically come on when the vehicle was started or the Home button was pushed that they built that in as a factory default now. They did say that you can customize your settings regarding the volume level of the radio when it does start up - in fact, you can turn the volume setting all the way down so that you can't hear it at startup. Just passing on what I found out.

That is really interesting, I wouldn't have thought something like that would be a huge demand by people. Are the settings to change the volume easy to find?

Yes they are - you just go to the Settings icon on the Home screen of the radio and then scroll until you find radio volume. You then use the slider control to set it exactly where you want it to be. Each use can set their own preference as the vehicle knows who the driver is based up which key fob is being used.

I know from experience on other vehicles that another solution is placing a dummy plug into an AUX port so the sound tries to go through there and then fails. So you get true radio silence. Haven't tried that on a 2021 Tahoe yet though

Makes me wonder if the rep was just blowing smoke because GM knows they have a serious issue with the radios in 2020-21 Silverados, Tahoes and Suburbans. My buddy has noticed, using Bluetooth exasperates the problem.
