Hey guys I have a 21 Tahoe RST 4x4 i modify, lift, lower & repair cars for a living along with alignments body frame & advanced driver calibrations. Please pay attention if you have already lowered your Tahoe and I’ll explain why you’re having drivability issues.
With that said stop taking your front springs and putting them on the back. I did this and it makes the truck wander on the highway yes it’s get the lowered look but this is very unsafe considering the trucks reaction to hard cornering and or braking. Everyone that’s already done this is just to proud to admit that it drives like a boat on the highway. Just do it right Belltech has adjustable shocks that utilizes factory springs for 100$ a piece we all want to see you and your family get home safe.
I’ll post some pictures of the install and part numbers for struts/knuckles alignment specs feel free to ask any questions and I’ll get back to you. 305/30/26 fits with no rubs I can also help with pre setting alignment angles before you take the truck to the alignment shop after lowering.
One more thing i’m sure everyone has noticed the front wheels sit back towards the firewall this can be fixed by adjusting the alignment cams on the lower cont arm —the farther the lower ball joint is towards the front of the vehicle the higher the caster angle will be this fixes the setback look and brings back drive ability after lowering this is a must if your install larger wheels and tires. ( Give me a few days I’ll post pics of my alignment cams clearly marked with instructions if you would like to try it yourself or just pictures to print off for reference to give your alignment guy. Unfortunately most shops will just want to do a tow set and blow ya out the door so keep that in mind.

Was looking at bell tech has a coilover set up coming out it’s pre order only at this time they told me some time in the summer can’t wait to lower my truck . So will do this set up you running for time being as it’s a nice drop they also going to be offering sway bars & coils full kit I was quoted 1,997.00 shipped

This is what mine looks like with the Belltech adjustable struts installed to a 2" drop all around. Rear is still 3/4" higher than front, but that is on purpose because I tow a boat in the summer.

For the front, the instructions (which I believe originally were written for a Silverado/Sierra) have the chart describing the amount of spacers/rings to use to achieve the amount of lowering. However, the charts are different for 2wd and 4wd applications. https://www.belltech.com/extras/docs/BBGC/25019-888.pdf

Considering the truck 2wd and 4wd do have different ground clearance, does the chart still apply to the Tahoe/Suburbans 2wd/4wd configurations? Im not so sure a 2WD vs 4WD GM SUV (coil spring/non Z71) are any different in ride height... so I'm debating whether I should use the 2WD chart, even though my Suburban is a 4wd.

Thoughts?

Great question, in addition to that question, on my 4wd RST I noticed that my front driver side is 1/2 inch higher than my front passenger. Anyone else have that and if so do I take that into consideration when I decide on how to lower the front. Should one strut be at 2.5 and other at 2 to achieve the same height in the front.

Some clean looking Tahoes on here! Just signed up for the forum myself and can't wait to lower mine! Read a lot about the spring swap and the handling issues afterwards so I avoided that idea like the plague! My aftermarket guy at the dealership said he's unaware of anything available yet due to the indy rears. I'm gonna check with him about this setup and see if he can atleast have a tech install. Have a hard time trusting a local shop with this job haha.

Heard about the horrors of the spring swap, and had been looking into Belltech myself. Saw your post and made that decision pretty easy. Had my Belltech struts installed the other day and went with a 2/3 drop setup. Wheels will be here in a week!

The best Belle Tire can get mine -2 degrees. Wanted to take it to a specialty shop but can't find any that can accommodate 24 unch rims.

I actually didn't look at the alignment specs, I have been working with a guy who runs the aftermarket department at the dealership for years so I go to him for these kind of things. My alignment is solid, drives like a dream, but I stuck with the stock 22"s. I can reach out and see if he can send me the specs if he still has them. I'm getting my new wheels next week and will be having my alignment rechecked, so I can get those numbers as well. My rear end sits about .75 of in inch lower currently, hoping my front end drops here soon, only put about 400 miles on the struts so far. I love the leveled look myself, I don't tow anything so sagging isn't an issue to me.

Looks like you are local in my area, looked up Belle Tire and they are down the street from me haha, never heard of them though. Check out Network Alignment, they are just north of Cactus on Cave Creek. Have used them before with lowered vehicles and 22"s, assume they can assist even with the 24"s. Discount Tire recommends them to anyone who buys new tires or wheels from them.

Just curious what issues anyone has heard about the Belltech springs up front and OEMs to the rear? Did this on my ‘21 RST almost 2yrs ago have had zero issues?

Other than OP's concerns, I've read a few other articles about the back end swaying like a boat at high speeds. I do a lot of freeway driving at 75/80 and didn't want to risk doing something like a spring swap and then having to pay more to get struts anyways. I wanted a 2/3 drop to get a leveled looked and the spring swap only gets 2" in the rear.
